One of our dedicated personnel is always there to ensure your pet is monitored constantly and you are more than welcome to call for an update or visit any time during the day or night. Emergencies are situations that require urgent care and could be anything but not limited to poisoning, physical trauma, etc. that can be endanger your pet's life if not promptly assessed. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. But, if you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
Referral Services
The Valencia Veterinary Center strives to be at the forefront of Animal Health Care by acting as an extension of the Primary Care Veterinarian providing after hour critical and emergency care when needed. As part of our professionalism, we recognize and respect the status of the Referring Veterinarian and the patients are transferred to their practices upon the completion of our services. For pet owners who arrive without a referral we communicate immediately and collaborate closely with the patient's Primary Care Veterinarian throughout the pet's stay enabling all parties to work together for optimal patient care.
Listed Below are some of the routine services:
Wellness Program
At the Valencia Veterinary Center, we promote a program of total animal health and wellness. This means that we are trying to lead our clients away from the reactive treatment that is a result of disease and help our patients stop the life-shortening diseases that are realized too late in life. The solution is to provide yearly examinations and blood testing on all animals over seven years of age. In an examination, the doctor can assess the physical health of an animal; however, this is not the whole picture. There is a wealth of information that can be gathered from a simple blood profile. Providing annual vaccinations in addition to these examinations can significantly increase the chances of early detection of disease, and therefore increase the possibility of successful treatment of these maladies.
Dental Hygiene
Dental Hygiene is a major concern for us in our lives. If we do not care for our mouths, they become infected and have diseases such as cavities and gingivitis. Imagine if we brushed only once a month, or never ?!? How badly would our mouths smell? Very bad! And when we get a cavity, or fracture a tooth, we go to the dentist that day. Now let's look at Fido's mouth, looks pretty bad right? On average, 85% of animals over age four have some form of periodontal disease. This is the most common type of disease in an animal's mouth, and the most painful in ours. There is, however, a solution. The solution is a yearly dental exam, relax, these are free. The dental exam is with one of our dental technicians who can explain the risks and problems associated with a neglected mouth. After the exam, the technician will make a recommendation based on the findings and a number of other factors that will affect your pet's health. The recommendations may range from the simple brushing at home to a professional dental cleaning followed by aggressive in-house treatment. We also offer a dental Radiology unit to provide the most effective and best medicine possible.
Diagnostic Imaging
From time to time it becomes necessary to see a picture of the inside of an animal. This could be for any number of reasons, a possible broken bone, a foreign object in the stomach, labored breathing, etc. For this purpose, we feature a fully functional radiology laboratory including Digital Radiography and Ultrasound. These tools are a valuable diagnostic to any quality veterinary practice to immediately assess a situation.
Surgery
Our surgical facilities are one of the most advanced and capable units in Southern California! We perform a full range of standard and specialized surgical procedures on just about any animal that involves using laser surgery, radiosurgery, effective anesthetic protocol, and a plethora of monitoring techniques. Our motto: "If it fits in our clinic, we'll do it!" Also, we offer a host of surgical upgrades that allow us to provide fast and reliable surgical approaches to anything from iguanas to mountain lions!
Internal Medicine
Our very knowledgeable and experienced clinicians are competent in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of disorders that affect the body in numerous areas such as neurology, oncology, and cardiology.
